Literally Almost Walking in Memphis

Like Brad said, we made it to Memphis with little damage to the car. I dropped a french fry into the black hole under my seat, but this will be pointless soon anyways. We arrived at the Fairfield Inn and Suites and the parking lot was empty.

So we go meet Sarah and her boyfriend for dinner at the Bar B Q Shop. Brad and I are both told that we have to order ribs, so we do. In typical Brad fashion, he orders the ribs by quoting a Jim Gaffigan routine. The waitress proceeds to tell us that she will bring us the ribs for 2 because it's the same thing except that it comes on one plate and it saves us money, even though we are perfectly fine with each having our own order and paying the regular price. Our meal arrives and Brad decides to remove his six ribs to his plate using a fork and knife even though you have to pick up ribs to eat them. He drops the third rib on the floor, waits five seconds, picks it up off the floor and puts it on his plate. The ribs are good, the sauce is not. At the end of the meal, Brad decides not to eat the floor rib. Also we both have sauce on our shorts from the floor rib.

So we go to our car, a 2010 Ford Fusion with Michigan plates(I'm a wolverine...It is a Red Dawn). Brad unlocks the car and wonders why the window was down, because it was pouring when we entered the restaurant. Also why there was glass all over the car. Luckily the cops were already there investigating another break in. So they fingerprint the car and we figure out they took Brad's GPS. We go find a car wash to vaccuum up the glass pieces.

I get to go in Piggly Wiggly and try to find something to cover the window. I buy Saran Wrap. The check out girl asks me how long I've been working at Ashley Schaeffer BMW. I say I don't wprk there, it's Will Ferrel's character's dealership on Eastbound and Down. She says that's nice. So we get back to the hotel I saran wrap the door so the car's freshness is sealed in and Brad unsuccessfully tries to call Hertz. Tomorrow, fixing the car and hopefully New Orleans.

  1. I laughed... I cried... I felt bad for laughing during the part about the car... Excellent update, glad to hear the only thing that was stolen was the GPS. Hope you guys get to schlitterbahn today.

  3. Dan, you realize, of course, that Schlitterbahn is in New Braunfels, Texas and not New Orleans, which is where we are today. Schlitterbahn will likely be Monday or Tuesday. Also, I just want to state, for the record, that those ribs were delicious, and I was much more impressed with the sauce than Kirby. Also I have about 10 cuts on my hands from picking the glass up out of the car, and one on my ear from when Kirby was "helping".

  4. Oh, I thought it was in New Orleans. I thought I remembered Kirby saying that he wanted to go to NO so you guys could go to Schlitterbahn.

  5. I value Kirby's opinion on BBQ sauce much more than Brad's.
